Obama vs Bill -Beneath it All a Generational Tension?
Jun 25 2008, 9:42 PM EDT
These days Bill Clinton's not so strong endorsement of Obama has preoccupied some pundits. They rightly view it as lukewarm--so much in fact that Hillary had to "clarify"--always a bad sign and even Obama had to come out a stroke Bill's ego one more time--calling him the most intelligent and important political figure in a generation--or words to that effect. Something more seems to be going on here--something generational--Bill cannot quite quit being the BMOC--as we used to say (the big man on campus)--with his final blessing that is sure to come by the time or at the convention--something like a symbolic handover of power between our generation and Obamas will occur. We will all remember where we were when that moment occurs?
